Outside the wire you need a good Battle Rhythm.  Outside the wire is a phrase well known among the Army deployed at the tip of the spear.
Anytime that we open ourselves to specific risks where the enemy can ambush you and kill you it is always a threat.
For many of us this was a daily engagement.
You try to minimize the hazard by ensuring the safety precautions are in place.
I always ensured that my Soldiers went “outside the wire” in their proper protective gear.
All missions had to be planned so that everyone knew the route, everyone knew the mission, and everyone was properly briefed.
We had to be able to respond to any threat and know the action needed to counter any kind of threat. Many times at night, you could hear the small arms fire in the distance, occasionally, there would be a loud explosion.
If they were close, I would quickly respond to see if there were any casualties. Prayer was ever so important, but we had to be prepared to take action at a moments notice.
Especially when you are outside the wire, you had to be disciplined. Being part of a team, you played a major role. As a Combat Medic, that meant the difference of saving lives.
I was always ready to go outside the wire first by praying the rosary, I also loved Psalms 23.

Stand In The Gap With Us And St. Justin Martyr 6/1/2024.  165, Rome [Italy]; feast day June 1), one of the most important of the Greek philosopher-Apologists in the early Christian church. His writings represent one of the first positive encounters of Christian revelation with Greek philosophy and laid the basis for a theology of history.
Justin never ended his quest for religious truth even when he converted to Christianity after years of studying various pagan philosophies.
As a young man, he was principally attracted to the school of Plato. However, he found that the Christian religion answered the great questions about life and existence better than the philosophers.
Upon his conversion he continued to wear the philosopher’s mantle, and became the first Christian philosopher. He combined the Christian religion with the best elements in Greek philosophy. In his view, philosophy was a pedagogue of Christ, an educator that was to lead one to Christ.
Justin is known as an apologist, one who defends in writing the Christian religion against the attacks and misunderstandings of the pagans. Two of his so-called apologies have come down to us; they are addressed to the Roman emperor and to the Senate.

Donald Hartley, The Catholic Defender, Temptation in the Desert.  "Jesus was lead by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil." What was the main temptations?
"If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread." "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down." "All these I shall give to you, if you will prostate yourself and worship me." These temptations recorded in the Gospel of Matthew 4:3-11 tell us a lot about the devil. Satan is crafty and cunning. He uses the enviornment to lure his victims. For many, the Devil will use drugs, wild sex, homosexuality, and many other things.
Sometimes, Satan can be simply appealing to the mind. "C'mom Defender, everybody does it?" Consider the following temptation that was attempted on me recently. The following was written to me: "Defender, I have a challenge for you, I know you wont accept and if you do, you wont be honest about it. The challenge is this, don't go to church for one month. Don't be Catholic for one month.
Don't say any Catholic prayers, no rosaries, no hail Marys, no saints. Don't do anything Catholic for one month.
Instead, just pray directly to God. Seek him out, ask for his guidance. Fast and pray, pray only to God and in Jesus name only. Ask for truth.
Do this with a whole heart and you will find, after one month of not being Catholic, that you will never want to return to the RCC.

Stand In The Gap With Us And St. Joan of Arc 5/30/2024.  The feast day of Saint Joan of Arc is traditionally celebrated on May 30th as it was the day that she was burned at the stake in Rouen, France; but of course, you can pray through her strong intercession any time! When she was being burned at the stake, she asked someone to make a small crucifix which she put in the top of her dress, while a priest held one up for her to look at as she died. Witnesses said she met her fate with composure and bravery.
Since the creation of her feast day, Saint Joan of Arc has been one of the most popular saints in the history of the Catholic Church. It actually took more than 400 years after her death until she was canonized by Pope Benedict XV in 1920.
Saint Joan, also known as the Maid of Heaven, is often invoked for strength and courage, which she herself exemplified throughout her life as she followed God’s direction and led the French army to several victories during the Hundred Years War.
Saint Joan of Arc was born on January 6, 1412 to very pious parents in Domremy, France. At a very early age, she heard the voice of God in her father’s garden, followed later by hearing the voices of Saint Michael, St. Catherine and St. Margaret. These voices told her to go to the King of France to help him reconquer France’s liberty.

Welcome Eric Tafoya as he will share his amazing conversion story 5/28/2024 8:00 PM (20:00 hours).
Eric Tafoya was born in 1969 into the Santa Clara-Tewa Pueblo. Eric sparked an interest in pottery making at the age of 18, while watching his Aunt, Gwen Tafoya, and his Mother, Wanda Tafoya, coil their pottery. This inspired him to start making his own pottery. The Tafoya family has been making pottery since the early 1900’s, and this strong tradition lives within Eric.
Eric Tafoya is a devout Catholic convert and who has embarked on a lifelong journey of redemption after a deadly hit-and-run that made national headlines. Eric has made decisions that have changed his life forever, and is finally sharing his story about the biggest decision he has ever made: committing his life to Christ.  Eric tafoya Rise up Catholic men enter into poverty

Stand In The Gap With Us And Venerable Pierre Toussaint 05/28/224.  Venerable Pierre Toussaint (1766-1853) was born a slave in Haiti and died a freeman in New York City. He is credited by many with being the father of Catholic Charities in New York. Pierre was instrumental in raising funds for the first Catholic orphanage and began the city's first school for black children.
In 2000, the Archdiocese of New York presented the Vatican with evidence that a miracle occurred through his intercession (he cured a 5-year-old boy suffering from advanced scoliosis). He was soon thereafter declared a candidate for beatification—one step short of canonization.
Born in modern-day Haiti and brought to New York City as a slave, Pierre died a free man, a renowned hairdresser, and one of New York City’s most well-known Catholics.
Plantation owner Pierre Bérard made Toussaint a house slave and allowed his grandmother to teach her grandson how to read and write. In his early 20s, Pierre, his younger sister, his aunt, and two other house slaves accompanied their master’s son to New York City because of political unrest at home.
Apprenticed to a local hairdresser, Pierre learned the trade quickly and eventually worked very successfully in the homes of rich women in New York City.

Freedom isn't Free, Happy Memorial Day and Saint Augustine 5/27/2024

Stand In The Gap With Us And Saint Bede the Venerable 5/25/2024.  Bede is best known for his Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum (“Ecclesiastical History of the English People”), a source vital to the history of the conversion to Christianity of the Anglo-Saxon tribes
Bede is one of the few saints honored as such even during his lifetime. His writings were filled with such faith and learning that even while he was still alive, a Church council ordered them to be read publicly in the churches.
At an early age, Bede was entrusted to the care of the abbot of the Monastery of St. Paul, Jarrow.
The happy combination of genius and the instruction of scholarly, saintly monks, produced a saint and an extraordinary scholar, perhaps the most outstanding one of his day.
He was deeply versed in all the sciences of his times: natural philosophy, the philosophical principles of Aristotle, astronomy, arithmetic, grammar, ecclesiastical history, the lives of the saints and especially, holy Scripture.
