Stand in the Gap With Us and  Saint John Chrysostom 9/13/2023
John Chrysostom, (born 347 ce, Antioch, Syria—died September 14, 407, Comana, Helenopontus; Western feast day September 13; Eastern feast day November 13), early Church Father, biblical interpreter, and archbishop of Constantinople.
Did you know that “Chrysostom” is a nickname that meansDid you know that “Chrysostom” is a nickname that means “golden-mouthed”? A legendary orator, St. John Chrysostom enjoyed immense popularity as a preacher in Antioch.? A legendary orator, St. John Chrysostom enjoyed immense popularity as a preacher in Antioch.
Saint John Chrysostom, Bishop and Doctor—Memorial. Saint John Chrysostom was born as John of Antioch. “Chrysostom” is a title attributed to him, meaning “Golden Mouth,” an honorific Greek title emphasizing the power of his preaching and writings. distinguished for lofty or persuasive utterance : eloquent.
The ambiguity and intrigue surrounding John, the great preacher (his name means “golden-mouthed”) from Antioch, are characteristic of the life of any great man in a capital city. Brought to Constantinople after a dozen years of priestly service in Syria, John found himself the reluctant victim of an imperial ruse to make him bishop in the greatest city of the empire. Ascetic, unimposing but dignified, and troubled by stomach ailments from his desert days as a monk, John became a bishop under the cloud of imperial politics.
If his body was weak, his tongue was powerful. The content of his sermons, his exegesis of Scripture, were never without a point. Sometimes the point stung the high and mighty. Some sermons lasted up to two hours.

Eucharistic Miracle of Alboraya-Almacera Spain 1348
In 1384, a curator from Valencia, Spain, went to bring the Holy Communion to a dying person. Despite a storm that was brewing, the priest knew he had to do everything so that this poor soul, who was about to meet God, could go in grace.
At the end of his mission, and as he was returning home, a violent storm erupted that forced the priest to protect the relic with three hostages anointed against his chest.
While passing the Carraixet ravine, he noticed that the water was very high and that he had to use a board to build a bridge.
Unfortunately, while trying to cross it, he lost his balance and dropped the relic with the hostesses sacred in the river. In the midst of despair, the priest dived into the river to save them, but he couldn't; the current of the river had taken everything away! With great sadness, the curator informed the community of the incident and offered to start a search.
They searched all night and in the morning they found the empty box. How sad! The only thing left for the priest to perform, with the faithful, acts of reparation with prayers and penitence.
But the Lord was moved by the love the community and the healer had, and He decided to give them a big miracle.
The population then lives three fish standing in the river's current, holding in their mouths the three consecrated hostels abandoned for loss.
Everybody fell on their knees, moved by this miracle, and brought the priest. The fish did not move until the priest's arrival and, dressed in his sacred garments, he approached the riverbank.
Seeing the priest, the fish also approached the riverbank and laid the body of Christ upon the priest's consecrated hands, while the faithful, on their knees, with tears in their eyes, sang praises to our God.

Stand in the Gap with us and Saint Cyprian 9/11/2023
Cyprian of Antioch was a pagan sorcerer who converted toJesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church.  In 620 A.D Cyprien settled in a cave that overlooked the Dordogne valley. Others gathered around him and a monastic community grew up. Barbarian invasions in the mid-9th century forced the monks to build defensive ramparts, one of which is the belltower-keep that survives today.
Latin in full Thascius Caecilius Cyprianus, (born 200 ce, Carthage—died September 14, 258, Carthage; Western and Eastern feast day September 16; Anglican feast day September 26), early Christian theologian and bishop of Carthage who led the Christians of North Africa during a period of persecution from Rome.
Highly educated and a famous orator, he became a Christian as an adult. He distributed his goods to the poor, and amazed his fellow citizens by making a vow of chastity before his baptism. Within two years he had been ordained a priest and was chosen, against his will, as Bishop of Carthage.
He converted to Christianity c. 246 and within two years was elected bishop of Carthage. In 250 he went into hiding to escape the Decian persecution, when many Christians apostatized.
Cyprian is important in the development of Christian thought and practice in the third century, especially in northern Africa.
Cyprian teaches how God is able to free us from even the powerful of sinful habits. He can give us freedom over addiction, strength over weakness, and the joy of the saints in place of the sorrow of sinners.

The Virgin Mary Back to Spain to Quito, Ecuador  Join John Carpenter, Donald Hartley, and the Deeper Truth  research team as they begin to cover the many events in Quito, Ecudaor after an initial start back in Spain.
messages to Ven. Mother Mariana,“Thus, I make it known to you that from the end of the 19th century and from shortly after the middle of the 20th century, in what is today the Colony and will then be the Republic of Ecuador, the passions will erupt and there will be a total corruption of customs, for Satan will reign almost completely by means of the Masonic Sects. They will focus principally on the children in order to sustain this general corruption. Woe to the children of these times! It will be difficult to receive the Sacrament of Baptism and also the Sacrament of Confirmation. They will receive the Sacrament of Confession only if they remain in Catholic schools, for the Devil will make a great effort to destroy it through persons in position of authority. The same thing will happen with the Sacrament of Holy Communion. (What saddens me here also is how many have turned away from their Sacraments)

Stand in the Gap with us and Saint Thomas of Villanova 9/10/2023
Thomas composed beautiful sermons, among which stands out the Sermon on the Love of God, one of the great examples of sacred oratory of the 16th century
He began his episcopacy by visiting every parish in the Archdiocese to discover what the needs of the people were.
He wore the same habit that he had received in the novitiate, mending it himself. The canons and domestics were ashamed of him, but they could not convince him to change. Several hundred poor came to Thomas’s door each morning and received a meal, wine, and money.
When criticized because he was at times being taken advantage of, he replied, “If there are people who refuse to work, that is for the governor and the police to deal with. My duty is to assist and relieve those who come to my door.” He took in orphans and paid his servants for every deserted child they brought to him. Thomas of Villanova (1486-1555) was known for his promotion of studies and missions in the Order of Saint Augustine, and for his love and care for the poor. Thomas García Martínez was born in 1486 in Fuenllana, Ciudad Real, Spain. He spent his childhood in the family home in Villanova de los Infantes.
Saint Thomas of Villanova is a Spanish friar who is celebrated by the Augustinians on his feast day, October 10. He is the patron saint of Villanova University, an Augustinian school named one of the Top 50 of the Nation's Best Colleges and Universities by U.S. News & World Report.

Stand in the Gap with us and St. Peter Claver 9/9/2023
September 9th, the Church celebrates the life of St. Peter Claver which illustrates the very intent of St. Paul’s writing to St. Timothy and to the Galatians.
His whole life was modeled after the New Testament.
St. Peter was born of impoverished parents at Verdu, Catalonia, Spain. This early experience would be the foundation that St. Peter would come to understand the people whom he would serve with pastoral care.
In 1580 Spain St. Peter grew up in the environment that is not too different from what is happening in the United States today.
The Spanish tax burden fell upon the poor, hitting the agricultural sector particularly hard. Despite this, the Spanish Government’s expenditures continue to climb.
As a result, the Spanish Government both borrowed money, and then assigned future revenues to the bankers. Does this not all sound familiar? The interest that the Government has to pay back kept the Government from ever paying off their debts.
This was the environment that St. Peter Claver was raised and he really didn’t have the heritage that his ancestry once had owned. From his early years, he places himself in the heart of Jesus and Mary. His love for the Lord was apparent to all who knew him. As expected, St. Peter decided to attend a Jesuit college in Barcelona and in 1602, at age 18, became a novitiate at Tarrangona. He took his final vows on August 8th, 1604. St. Peter was only 20 years old.

Deepertruth Stand in the Gap With Us Mother Mary's Birthday 9/8/2023
The Church has celebrated Mary’s birth since at least the sixth century. A September birth was chosen because the Eastern Church begins its Church year with September. The September 8 date helped determine the date for the feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8.
Scripture does not give an account of Mary’s birth. However, the apocryphal Protoevangelium of James fills in the gap. This work has no historical value, but it does reflect the development of Christian piety. According to this account, Anna and Joachim are infertile but pray for a child. They receive the promise of a child who will advance God’s plan of salvation for the world. Such a story, like many biblical counterparts, stresses the special presence of God in Mary’s life from the beginning.
Saint Augustine connects Mary’s birth with Jesus’ saving work. He tells the earth to rejoice and shine forth in the light of her birth. “She is the flower of the field from whom bloomed the precious lily of the valley. Through her birth the nature inherited from our first parents is changed.” The opening prayer at Mass speaks of the birth of Mary’s Son as the dawn of our salvation, and asks for an increase of peace.
We can see every human birth as a call for new hope in the world. The love of two human beings has joined with God in his creative work. The loving parents have shown hope in a world filled with travail. The new child has the potential to be a channel of God’s love and peace to the world.

Stand in the Gap With Us and Blessed Frédéric Ozanam 9/7/2023
Frédéric Ozanam always respected the poor while offering whatever service he could. Each man, woman, and child was too precious to live in poverty. Serving the poor taught Frédéric something about God that he could not have learned elsewhere.
To the Priest who assisted him he said: “ Why would I fear Him? I love Him so much.” On September 8th, the Feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, around 7:30 at night, Frederic Ozanam committed his soul to God, saying “My Lord, have mercy”. And 20 minutes later he gave his last breath.
A man convinced of the inestimable worth of each human being, Frédéric served the poor of Paris well, and drew others into serving the poor of the world. Through the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, which he founded, his work continues to the present day.
Frédéric was the fifth of Jean and Marie Ozanam’s 14 children, one of only three to reach adulthood. As a teenager he began having doubts about his religion. Reading and prayer did not seem to help, but long walking discussions with Father Noirot of the Lyons College clarified matters a great deal.

Born in Santa Lucia del Piave near Venice, Claudio was the youngest of nine children and was accustomed to hard work in the fields. At the age of 9, he lost his father. Six years later, he was drafted into the Italian army, where he served more than three years.
His artistic abilities, especially in sculpture, led to studies at Venice’s Academy of Fine Arts, which awarded him a diploma with the highest marks in 1929. Even then he was especially interested in religious art. When Claudio entered the Friars Minor four years later, his parish priest wrote, “The Order is receiving not only an artist but a saint.” Prayer, charity to the poor, and artistic work characterized his life which was cut short by a brain tumor. He died on the feast of the Assumption, August 15, 1947, and was beatified in 1994. His liturgical feast is celebrated on March 23.
